“Tell the rich in the present age not to be proud and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth but rather on God, who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment. Tell them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, ready to share, thus accumulating as treasure a good foundation for the future, so as to win the life that is true life.”

Timothy 6:17-19

Other Ways to Give

Since construction of the Cathedral began in 1853, generous donors have allowed the Cathedral to remain a beacon on Saint John’s city skyline. You’ll become part of the global community helping to preserve one of Canada’s heritage treasures.

All donations are important to the Cathedral Heritage Foundation. Whatever you choose to donate, it will make an impact and we would be grateful for your support.

You may make a contribution to the Cathedral Heritage Foundation in a number of ways, including gifts of cash, cheques, and through our secure online service. Some donors choose to make their gifts as pledges over time to achieve a greater impact. Memorial gift opportunities are available for individual or family commemoration which allows our donors to leave a lasting legacy.

Gifts of appreciated securities, life insurance and bequests by trust or living will are also a wonderful way to ensure our heritage endures.

An endowment fund will provide for future unforeseen capital costs and ensure that the Cathedral and its ministries and services endure.

Securities

Stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares that have appreciated can have an immediate impact and can create an income tax deduction for you based on their current value. Donating shares or mutual funds is currently one of the smartest ways to give in Canada. When you donate shares to a charity, there is no capital gains tax on any benefit received from the sale of these securities.

If you wish to make a gift of stock or donate listed securities to the Cathedral Restoration Project, please instruct your broker to contact Ms. Bev Mosher at ScotiaMcLeod 1-506-631-3115 or 1-800-416-1400. You can download our Letter of Direction which you can use to make a donation of securities. For additional information, you may contact the Cathedral Restoration Office at 1-506-653-6967.

We strongly encourage you to seek advice from your professional financial or tax advisor before deciding upon any charitable gift using personal assets.

Life Insurance

You may donate to the project by making the “Cathedral Restoration Project” of the Cathedral Heritage Foundation the owner and beneficiary of your insurance policy.
